Olive oil helps prevent strokes

Sep 20, 11 Olive oil helps prevent strokes

According to a new study that followed 7000 people over 65 years old, in France, those who used a lot of olive oil in their diet (either for cooking or for dipping) had a lower risk of a stroke than those who never used it or used it only a few.

Dr Cecillia Samieri, from the University of Bordeaux, that was leading the search, commented:

"Our research suggests that a new set of dietary recommendations should be issued to prevent stroke in people 65 and older. Stroke is so common in older people, and olive oil would be an inexpensive and easy way to help prevent it."

The study concluded that the risk of a stroke was an impressive 41% lower in those people that used olive oil frequently, than those who rarely or never used it.

At the same time, Harvard School of Health Public, included Olive Oil in their newly published Healthy Eating Guide.

Both reports are a very good, reliable and trustworthy answer to some 'pop-up' "scientists", backed from various interests, who claim that olive oil is 'not' good for health!

So, if you trust BBC and Harvard…. let us introduce you to Olive Shop, the place that health resides! :-)
